    Coit Tower is a San Francisco icon, built in 1933 as a viewing tower. An elevator takes guests 14 stories to the top for 360 degree views of the city and the bay. In 1934 the tower was selected as the first public funded art project, 26 artists depicted California in the largest collection of depression era art in the United States, the vast majority are done in fresco and the colors are as vibrant today as they were when they were first applied. The tower receives thousands of visitors a year and is a must see when visiting San Francisco.

    Top-of-the-Tower Ticket

    The elevator takes guests to the top of the tower, a docent is available to point out San Francisco and the Bay landmarks and take photos. On most days visitors will be able to see as far away as the Sonoma and Napa wine countries.
    Please note this is not a guided tour.

    IMPORTANT TICKET INFORMATION: PRINTED VOUCHER REQUIRED TO GAIN ADMISSION. A timed ticket entitles you to stand in a special reservation line at your designated time. You must arrive no later than 15 minutes after your designated time. Due to the small size of the elevator, waits for the elevator ride will still apply. A maximum of 16 tickets will be available per hour, per day. If your ticket is not used at your designated time, it will be valid through March 31, 2019 as a general admission ticket. It will no longer be valid for the special reservation line and yours will be accommodated on a first come first serve basis.

      Private Guided Mural Tours - 1st and 2nd Floor
      Tours have a 4 person minimum

      Ticket info /hours

      A docent led tour of the tower, beginning with the history of Lily Coit and the selection of the site and architecture. The art is examined with a history of the artist and a history of the time period depicted. The second story has seven more murals which have been closed to the public for decades, and will be included in your 40 minute tour.

        A docent led tour of the tower of the art on the second floor, which have been closed to the public for decades, and will be shown with a docent on this 18 minute tour. Because space is confined, each tour can accommodate no more than 6 guests.
